Enhancing the Resort Experience through IP Video Distribution

Organizer’s Note – Digital Innovation Series

This article is part of the G2E Asia Digital Innovation Series, featuring insights from exhibitors on technologies shaping integrated resort environments. From IP-based infrastructure to data-driven content delivery, innovations like these are redefining how resorts connect operations, entertainment, and guest experiences.

From the casino floor to the guest suite, the demand for high-quality, low-latency video continues to grow. As the industry gathers for G2E Asia, Ben Rivers, Head of Sales – VITEC Asia, explores how IP-based video distribution is evolving from simple broadcasting into a core component of the modern guest experience.

Integrated resorts are complex environments that require a careful balance of gaming, hospitality, and entertainment. To manage this technical complexity efficiently, properties are moving away from standalone displays in favour of a cohesive digital infrastructure. At the heart of this transition is a shift toward IP-based video distribution. By replacing traditional cabling with a 'single platform' approach, resorts can finally bridge the gap between disparate areas of the property—from guest suites to the casino floor.

Diverse Endpoints

To deliver a synchronised experience across varied environments, modern resort operators require a centralised management system capable of handling high-demand media. VITEC’s IPTV platforms meet this challenge by providing ultra-low latency delivery, which is critical for live sports and gaming where even a few seconds of delay can impact the guest experience. These solutions also offer 4K scalability to ensure high-definition delivery across (potentially) thousands of screens without compromising network stability.

Beyond visual quality, a centralised system enhances operational efficiency by providing a single interface to manage wayfinding, digital signage, and live TV from one location. The ultimate objective is a truly synchronised environment; when the same live content reaches a guest room, a sports lounge, and a large-scale LED wall simultaneously, it creates a consistent atmosphere across the entire venue while significantly simplifying tasks for technical teams.

Data-Driven Engagement

Video technology is increasingly intersecting with real-time data to move beyond passive viewing. On the gaming floor, "event-driven" content is becoming more common. For example, a jackpot win can trigger a resort-wide celebration as digital signage and floor displays instantly transition to congratulatory content, enhancing the environment and increasing guest engagement in a way that static displays cannot.

Looking ahead, at VITEC we have identified three pillars that will shape the integrated resort landscape over the next few years:

  • The shift to IP Infrastructure will see resorts moving toward flexible, scalable systems that will significantly reduce hardware limitations.
  • Data and video convergence will allow resorts to integrate guest data and gaming systems with video platforms to deliver relevant, real-time content.
  • Support for interactive environments will be essential as esports and live events drive a standard requirement for ultra-low latency and shared viewing experiences.

Network Integrity

One of the most critical, yet often overlooked, benefits of a transition to IP-based video distribution transition is the enhancement of network integrity it can deliver. As an example, our end-to-end encoding solutions are designed to preserve the internal network from exterior vulnerabilities. This is achieved through our professional-grade encoders sitting at the "edge" of the network  infrastructure, allowing resorts to capture external content—such as satellite feeds or public broadcasts—and convert them into secure IP streams without exposing the core network to the open internet.

Further, for integrated resorts, particularly in Asia, the ability to pivot from marketing to emergency management is a high-priority requirement. VITEC’s IP-based platform allows operators to instantly stream and push security and emergency content across the entire estate.

Looking Ahead to G2E Asia

For the VITEC team, G2E Asia provides an opportunity to see these technologies in practice. The focus this year is on understanding how operators are blending digital entertainment with live experiences to better serve their guests.

As resorts move toward more connected environments, the "single platform" philosophy is becoming essential for both operational efficiency and a seamless guest journey.
