The Analyst’s Perspective: Asian Markets Update

Countries across Asia have long worked to find new opportunities for economic growth, and integrated casino resort development is one generally successful route.
In Japan, South Korea and Vietnam, foreign operators are vying to build iconic structures that will attract overseas visitors and generate tax revenue: but which market is most compelling for investors? What do Manila, in the Philippines, Cambodia and Laos offer? In Macau, Cotai’s third phase is being planned: what has worked there so far and what warrants improvement? Industry analysts closely following these markets will answer these and other questions as we open the G2E Asia 2017 Conference.

The "Locals" Factor: Assessing Asian Markets Development

The local segment is becoming an increasingly important factor when casino developers and operators assess market potentials for new development and expansion. A slew of international operators reportedly have their eyes on Vietnam again after the latest gaming decree opened up casinos to local residents. On the other hand, Korea's current ban on local gaming outside of Kangwon Land scared away many potential developers in its 2015 RFP process. The Japanese government's policy on local gaming would largely determine the gaming market potential, ROI, and ultimately, the scale and position of prospective Integrated Resorts in the country.
During this session, market experts will discuss the interactions and dynamics between legislatures and Integrated Resorts developers to explore the thoughts and rationale on both sides of the table. A holistic walk through the performance of local versus non-local markets will also be addressed.
