All Asia Dealers Championship

2016-02-02 01:07

The All Asia Dealers Championship (AADC) was developed as a platform to celebrate Dealers skills and achievements by honoring the front line of the industry, promoting responsible gaming and corporate social responsibility.

The AADC 2015 was the first time that a tournament of this scale and depth, with its own competition arena mirroring the casino experience, had ever been organized. Dealers from local operators in Macau and from all over Asia competed in three games (Baccarat, Blackjack and Roulette) in the areas of Customer Service, Chip Work and Dealing skills.

This year’s competition will take place throughout the three days of G2E Asia at a specially built AADC arena, located on the main exhibition floor.

The AADC brings together operators, regulators, suppliers, government bureaus, institutions and organizations from across the region. The AADC is co-organized by Asia Gaming Brief (AGB) and G2E Asia.

Last year’s inaugural edition saw the participation of over 300 people, including more than 60 Dealers from the sixteen competing teams from Macau and across Asia.

The first edition of the AADC was sponsored by local operators Sands China, Wynn Macau, SJM, MGM China and MCE; and suppliers TCS JohnHuxley, GPI and Angel. Local organizations supporting the event included the Gaming Research Centre of the Macao Polytechnic Institute, Casino Alumni Association and MISE.

“Our aim is to develop an international platform for dealers to further develop their talent and skills as they are an integral part of the gaming industry. They need to know that the industry cares about them and is here to support them through their careers,” said Rosalind Wade, managing director of Asia Gaming Brief, the event organizers.

Asian teams participating in the event included, from Singapore: Marina Bay Sands, Resorts World Sentosa; from The Philippines: Resorts World Manila, MCE Philippines, Solaire Resort & Casino; from Cambodia: NagaWorld.

The AADC Career Path Seminar had a guest keynote speaker Dr. Samuel Huang, Professor of Gaming at the MPI and was chaired by Tournament Director Kate Young. The audience heard about Macau’s Responsible Gaming policies and exchanged life stories of the rise to success within the gaming industry by executives from the participating local operators.

Sands China won the Best Dealers Team - Macau, while Best Dealers Team All- Asia was awarded to Marina Bay Sands, Singapore. Individual dealers were bestowed prizes in all game categories - see annex. The criteria for the All Asia Dealers Championship specified in the Rules of Play was especially developed by the event’s Organizing Committee consisting of gaming executives from the local operators.

With the support of its media partners the event received extensive coverage from local and regional press.

Quotes:

“There is more to a dealer’s responsibility than meets the eye - they are the catalyst for an enjoyable casino experience for guests. Dealers have to perfect the art of interacting with the players, deciphering body language, calling a good game, all while operating a game confidently. It is important to recognize their contributions to the industry and we are proud to have three of our best dealers to represent us at the All Asia Dealer’s Championship 2015. This is an excellent opportunity for them to showcase their talent and to promote best practices in their field.”

Andrew MacDonald, corporate senior vice president and chief casino officer, Marina Bay Sands

“Development of talent is one of the most important priorities of Melco Crown Entertainment. We are proud to have City of Dreams, Altira Macau, and City of Dreams Manila represented, which provides opportunities for recognition and professional growth as well as bringing the industry together. We are very proud of our colleagues, and we hope they will gain confidence and friends through this participation.”

Akiko Takahashi, executive vice president and chief human resources/corporate social responsibility officer for Melco Crown Entertainment

“It is no exaggeration to say that Resorts World Manila pushed casino gaming in the Philippines to the next level. We elevated gaming experience in the country to world-class standards, and set the benchmark for other industry players to follow. An important factor in our success is our people, especially our frontline staff, who are responsible for creating the experiences that wow our guests and keep them coming back. Our staff are the ambassadors of thrill like no other, and that is why we remain strongly committed to supporting and developing them, as we continue to invest in our expansion.”

Stephen Reilly, chief operating officer, Resorts World Manila

“We are pleased to sponsor the All Asia Dealers Championship. Our team comprises some of the best dealers in the industry, including some dealer competition champions among them. I look forward to enjoying the energy and excitement of this year’s championship, and seeing some stiff competition between the talented contestants.”

Stratoe Koutsouridis, executive director of casino operations for Venetian Macau

“It brings us great pride and a big opportunity to show that our dealers have the skills, professionalism and excellent customer service to match and compete with any of the major properties in Asia. The All Asia Dealers Championship is one way to reward and recognize our outstanding team members and this would give them a chance to associate themselves with other exceptional dealers from around the globe and give them a sense of pride in the work they do”.

Heather Scheibenstock, senior vice president of table games of Solaire Resort & Casino, Manila

“All great companies have one common denominator, and that is great employees. The greatest companies take it one step further, they have great front line employees! This has never been truer than in the gaming industry, and about the dealers who represent us. Regardless of how wise the different strategies of our business, without solid performers on the ground to execute all of this, none of us would enjoy the success that we do. It is imperative to recognize and to thank these people at every opportunity, for they are key at making us who we are.”

Vincent Mascio, senior vice president casino operation, NagaWorld

Asia Gaming Awards

The Asia Gaming Awards (AGAwards) aim to create an independent, fair and representative awards event that recognizes significant achievements within the Asian gaming industry.

The AGAwards celebrate operators, regulators, suppliers, and service providers for their outstanding contributions to the industry in their respective fields, in both the online and land based spheres. In addition, the AGAwards will select 18 young gaming executives from Asia for their talent and potential to shape the industry in the coming years.

The Awards Dinner takes place at G2E Asia, preceded by the Industry Reception. The AGAwards are co-organized by Asia Gaming Brief (AGB), G2E Asia and The Innovation Group.

This will be the first time that the Asian Gaming industry is to be distinguished in this public manner.

The Organizing Committee of the Asia Gaming Awards is presided by David Green, principal founder of Newpage Consulting. David has advised on casino regulation in a number of geographies, including Macau, Singapore, New Zealand and Taiwan. He has also advised on regulation of internet gaming, sports wagering and lotteries in other jurisdictions.
