IRs will be required include non-gaming facilities

11 May 2017

A government panel is planning to submit a proposal that would require future integrated resorts in the country to have at least four non-gaming facilities, in addition to a casino, The Japan Times reports.

“Other core facilities” proposed in the submission include a convention center, a recreation facility (such as a shopping mall and a museum), a facility arranges local tours, and a hotel.

According to the proposal, the core facilities would be run by the resort operator, and profits from the casinos will be used to support the operations of the other core facilities.

Approval of the first integrated resort is expected to be in 2020 or 2021.
